Bespoke software — the short version
Bespoke software is a system built specifically for one business rather than sold to thousands. GSUK is a UK studio that designs, builds and hosts it — job management, CRM, booking, scheduling and invoicing systems that replace the spreadsheet-plus-five-apps arrangement most small businesses end up with. We quote per project and host everything on our own servers in Britain.
Most small businesses don't have a software problem. They have a seven-apps-that-don't-talk-to-each-other problem — a diary here, a spreadsheet there, invoices in a third place, and someone re-typing the same customer's address into all of them.
What bespoke software actually means
Off-the-shelf software is designed for the average of an industry. That works until your business does something the average one doesn't — and every business that has been running more than a couple of years does several things the average one doesn't.
Bespoke software starts from the opposite end. We sit down with how the work moves through your business — enquiry, quote, job, engineer, sign-off, invoice, chase — and build a system that maps onto that. No modules you'll never open, no fields you have to leave blank, no workaround you have to explain to every new starter.
What we build most often
Nine times in ten, a bespoke build for a UK service business is a combination of these. They come as one system with one login, not as separate products:
- Job and works management — scheduling, engineer assignment, job sheets, photos and sign-off from a phone on site.
- Customer records (CRM) — every enquiry, quote, job and invoice against one customer, with the history attached.
- Booking and diary — online booking that writes straight into the real diary, with deposits taken at the point of booking.
- Staff scheduling and rotas — who is on, where, and what they are certified to do.
- Route and round planning — recurring work grouped sensibly by geography rather than by whoever shouted loudest.
- Quoting and invoicing — quote out of the job record, invoice out of the completed job, chase automatically.
- Integrations — Stripe, GoCardless, Xero, accounting exports, calendar sync, and the one supplier portal your industry can't function without.
How a bespoke build runs with us
We start with a scoping conversation, not a proposal document. The first thing we want is a walk through a normal week — including the bits that annoy you. Then we quote the build as a fixed figure, in writing, before any work starts.
Builds go live in stages. The part that hurts most gets built first and put in front of your staff early, because a system nobody uses is a worse outcome than no system. Once it's live, it sits on our servers in the UK on one monthly Direct Debit that covers hosting, backups, monitoring, updates and support.
You own what we build
This is worth saying plainly because a lot of the industry is vague about it. The system we build for you is yours. If you leave, we export your data in full and hand it over — we don't hold a business's own operating data hostage to keep it on a contract.

GlassM8 is a full operations platform for window cleaning businesses — rounds, recurring jobs, customer records and invoicing — live and running real businesses. AggM8 does dispatch, weighbridge tickets and fleet compliance for bulk materials hauliers. Both started as one company's problem and both run on the infrastructure we own and operate in Britain.
Alongside those sit 26 live client websites and systems — booking engines for holiday lets and caravan parks, shops on Stripe and Square, and admin panels the owners run themselves.

How much does bespoke software cost in the UK?
It depends entirely on scope, and any firm quoting a single number before scoping is guessing. A focused single-purpose tool is a very different figure from a full operations platform. We scope first, then quote the build as one fixed figure in writing, with a monthly Direct Debit covering hosting and support afterwards. The scoping conversation costs nothing.
How long does bespoke software take to build?
A focused tool can be in your hands in weeks. A full operations platform is a matter of months, built and released in stages so you are using the first useful part long before the last one is finished. We give timescales with the quote, not after.
Can a small business afford bespoke software?
Often yes, once you total what the current arrangement costs — per-seat subscriptions across several apps, plus the hours someone spends every week moving data between them. Bespoke is not automatically the right answer, and we will tell you when an off-the-shelf product genuinely does the job better.
What happens if you stop trading?
You get your data, in full, in a standard format. We build on ordinary, well-documented technology — Python, PostgreSQL, MySQL — precisely so that another developer can pick it up.
Do you build software for industries you haven't worked in?
Yes — most of what we build is for a trade we hadn't built for before. What matters is whether you can walk us through how the work actually moves. If you can, we can build it.
