Frequently asked questions.
What things cost, how it works, and what we actually build — answered the way we'd say it across a table, not the way a brochure would.
Who builds bespoke websites for small businesses in the UK?
We do — GSUK is a small UK studio designing, building and hosting bespoke sites for clients all over the UK: cafes, trades, salons, guest houses, driving schools and more. Every site is an original design on our own UK servers, and the people who built it answer the phone afterwards.
How much does a small business website cost in the UK?
Elsewhere, typically £500–£5,000 up front plus hosting, or £50–£150 a month on subscription. With us it's a flat £50 to design and build, then hosting from £30/month — one Direct Debit covering UK hosting, updates and support, invoiced only once you're happy. You see a free homepage concept before committing to anything.
Do I need a website if my business already has a Facebook page?
A Facebook page alone loses the customers who search Google, distrust social-only businesses, or want prices and booking without logging in. A site you own ranks in search, gets recommended by AI assistants, and can't vanish with an algorithm change. Facebook works best pointing at a proper site.
Who builds guest house and B&B websites with direct booking?
We build booking-enabled sites for guest houses, B&Bs and serviced apartments with commission-free direct booking built in. The online travel agencies take 15–25% of every booking; converting even a few bookings a month to direct pays for the site several times over.
What is GlassM8?
GlassM8 is our operations software for window cleaning businesses — round management, recurring jobs, customer records and invoicing in one place. It's part of the M8 range: industry software built and hosted in the UK by the same studio behind our client websites.
Can I check how good my current website is for free?
Yes — our free website check grades any site in about thirty seconds. It screenshots your homepage and scores design, mobile-friendliness, security and search signals, then lists what's working for and against you. No sales call, no obligation.
Where is my website hosted and who looks after it?
On servers we own and operate in the United Kingdom, with our own backups, monitoring and security. Nothing sits on an anonymous third-party cloud — the people who built your site maintain the server it lives on.
How long does a new website take?
The free homepage concept usually lands within days. Once you approve a direction, most sites go live within a few weeks — content, mobile testing, accessibility and search setup included. Booking systems and e-commerce add time; we quote timescales up front with the price.
